A heat pump is a standalone component of a heating and cooling system that uses refrigeration technology to provide both heating and cooling to your property.
To provide heat, a heat pump extracts heating from the air outside, transfers that heat to the refrigeration coolant inside the system, passes inside air over the heated coolant, delivering warmer air into the inside.
To cool a property, the process is essentially the same but in reverse. Taking heat from the inside are and delivering it outside.
Heat pumps are extremely efficient. They have the ability to give you the comfort you are looking for with relatively low operating costs.
Before installing a new heat pump, it is important to understand what your goals are and what you are trying to get out of the system.
Every situation is unique. So, the size of your space, the unit efficiency you are looking for, and your budget all factor into selecting the proper unit for you.

Our heating system failed right before an outbreak of very cold weather. Garden city came right over and diagnosed the need for an new heating system. Devan L from Garden City gave me several options for a new system any of which would have worked well. He was well informed about all of the choices. The installation went very fast and we had a functioning heating and cooling system installed before the cold weather arrived.
Andy Davis came to our home for an AC diagnosis. I was at work as my wife was home, Andy went through and explained everything to her and help her gain more knowledge about the system and how it worked. Not only did he do an amazing job he was professional, and very knowledgeable. My home is so much cooler than it was before much needed after todays heat. Garden City you should feel proud of having such a great technician.

When the air conditioner starts to go out at your business, it's a problem, especially if your business is a daycare center filled with tiny humans and it's super hot out! Garden City Plumbing & Heating got here the very next day after I called, even though they were booked and didn't expect to be able to get to us until the following Monday. They repaired and serviced the air conditioner quickly and efficiently and at a very reasonable cost. The technician was extremely nice and professional, explained the problem to me, and even fixed the system without waking up the kids who were napping! I'll be calling Garden City Plumbing & Heating for all our plumbing and heating needs!
Each heat pump is unique, the quality, brand, and how well the heat pump was maintained will factor into its life expectancy. That being said, usually when necessary repairs become more frequent, the cost of repairs become less cost-effective. At that point, replacing the unit is sometimes a more logical next step.
This answer might seem self serving; but, in most cases the answer is no. We recommend having an experienced professional do all of your repair work.
